SART

SART is a portable emergency equipment that can be taken to lifeboat, liferaft or overboard when a ship becomes distressed or must be abandoned at sea. The aim is that emergency workers should be able to send emergency signals that can be perceived at a longer distance, especially in the poorest view. The emergency signals sent by a SART can be received by vessels equipped with radar, indicating that someone is distressed, as well as presenting approximately where the distressed person is.
