Fluxgate compass
A fluxgate compass consists of two cross coils that sense the Earth's magnetic field. The compass is actually an electronic magnetic compass and has the same errors and limitations as a normal magnetic compass. Generally, however, electronics are built-in to automatically compensate for misalignment and deviation. By connecting a position sensor, for example GPS to the compass, the error can be calculated and compensated for. Through a number of round turns, the compass can automatically compensate for this by creating a separate deviation table.
